John Colvin has been making hardwood furniture since 1976. He began by
producing gateleg tables for Harrods and for private customers, then in
the eighties extended his work into bespoke kitchens, and in the nineties
developed a range of handmade lamps for Besselink and Jones (and also built
a 23 foot sailing boat).
Since 2000 he has returned to fitted furniture, specialising
in panelled interiors and libraries. He is committed to paying close attention
to your ideas: using your input he will develop a design that will sensitively
complement the way you live.
Craftsmanship is the bedrock of his work using
traditional mortise-and-tenon joints, and fully dove-tailed drawers. Yet
he has also embraced IT advances and uses autocad drawing programmes to produce
full 3D images of proposed designs.
John has a large portfolio of other
work he can show you, from small items to prestige projects, some of which
are not displayed on the web for reasons of space and some in order to respect
the privacy of clients in the public eye.
Please do contact him if you’d
like to discuss ideas you have in mind.
